Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.

I have always had great service at this location. A couple times I have had to wait for a friend, once for close to half an hour. I never felt rushed and the waitress offered to get me a drink to start and asked if I wanted to put in an order for an appetizer. I have also gone there for my lunch hour. They have great lunch specials and I received my food with enough time left so that I didn't have to rush. The food is good, as are the drinks. It's worth checking out :)

My husband and I stopped in on a whim and boy we were pleasantly surprised! We both ordered the grilled chicken and shrimp and it was absolutely delicious! Our server ,Aliyah, was great. She went through the menu with us, made sure we had our drinks and checked back with us frequently. All in all a great experience!

The service here was terrible and the waitresses need to be more trained on the menu. My group of friends chose to dine here to catch some quick food before our movie since it was literally next to the movie theatre. We arrived here at 9:30 and did not get out till an hour later when the restaurant is literally empty on an Thursday night. All we ordered was appetizers and drinks and it literally took them forever to come out. They messed up on one of our orders and even with the long wait we had to cancel on one of the items we ordered since it was never brought out. Had to be Id twice for drinks which means they don't even trust their waitress. Food was cold and chips were stale.. We will never be back and be surprised for long wait times and horrible service.

I went here last week early in the evening on a weekday. The service was ok but the music was extremely loud and inappropriate, even to someone in their 20's. I came here on a date to have dinner not listen to loud music that kept repeating "I want to dominate you" twenty times with a never ending chorus of "I love it when you eat me". I can understand the appeal of having a jukebox but I would say to keep the music appropriate and at a reasonable volume. The service was nice, I didn't see why two people had to check our id's. I'm not sure if the second woman was the manager but she seemed annoyed that she had to come back to our tBle twice because I ordered my drink with the meal while my date order when we got there. They said something like she could have just taken care of this the first time. But my old fashion was made just right. Worth the rude lady. It also was a little odd to me that I couldn't order a rare burger. My only choices were pink or no pink. And the server offered no explanation to this so I can only assume that they cooks don't know the difference besides pink or no pink. I had a mushroom Swiss Berger that was ok but pretty oily (should it really have dripped that much?) and there were about 10 tiny little hard chunks that I kept finding in the meat to the point I didn't finish it. Our server was no where to be seen so I didn't say anything. My dates broccoli chicken Alfredo was pretty good tho.

The tables were dirty they seated us the seats were dirty never again going there again . Trust don't go there .

The service at the location horrible. I arrived and was standing in the waiting area for approx 10 min, before being greeted by a near lifeless host who said the wait would be another 10 min. Needless to say the resturant wasn't busy and several table were clearly available. Before the lifeless host approach us the manger walked pass several times without saying a word while the other manager dined at the back table next to the bar, which appears to be her normal location while on duty. Seriously!!!! get it together.
(1)Tina M.
I've tried this location over and over and I just can't understand why they can't get it together... I ordered online, got there 30 mins later and still had to wait! The food was cold too! If it wasn't ready whyyyyy is it cold? I don't like this location and I live 2 mins from it geeez Louise!

They used to have Trivia on Tuesday nights, but have since cancelled. :( Fun and friendly staff!
(3)Gabriela S.
This place is really bad. It was my second time here and hopefully my last. The waitresses were really nice but it took forever to get our food and it was not even busy. I was with a big party and they made a mistake on someone's order. Instead of politely apologizing the manager behaved as if he was doing the person a favor and had this what do you want me to do about it attitude. The food was meh not worth the time I waited for it. Seating was about the only thing that was good.

This is my second time at this location and yet disappointed again. We were seated and waited almost 10 minutes for our waitress to take our orders, after she walked pass to assist the table behind us. While taking our order instead of her saying excuse me or pardon me because she didn't hear me she replied with "what". Ordered a drink which was suppose to be a drink special which wasn't and was a cup of juice. The waitress walked pass a couple of times didn't ask if we were ok or if we wanted anything more etc, until 15-20 minutes later after sitting there waiting for her. Got the bill and ask to speak to a manger because of the drink charge and disappointing service. Sad to say she did nothing. Customer service at this location is absolutely horrible and I will not patronize again!
(1)Latrice H.
I will never visit this location again....I visited on 12/22/13. I get a watered down sangeria and I sent it back, so the manager Chamora tells me she can't take it off my bill due to new management (??) I say to her you want me to pay for something I did not use? so then when I say I am leaving and I will pay for the drink and 2 sodas we got, only then she wanted to take it off and besides the food was horrible...I swear when you do business within your own neighborhood... I could have stayed in Orland Park for better customer service in which I originally went to 16200 S. Harlem but it was closed down.
(1)KIMBERLY R.
If I could give this location 0 stars I would. After last night dinner, I see why I'd STOPPED patronizing this location. I'd ordered a Margarita ($4). First, it took forever to get to my table, second, when the drink was served by the waiter, it was in a beer glass with A LOT of water. Actually, it looked as though it was a tall glass of water with a lime in it. I told the waiter that the drink was watered down, he went to get the manager. The lame manager informs me that is how the drink is made, company policy. No offer to replace or an offer for different drink. He even had the nerves to have it on my bill. I didn't even drink the margarita, actually, I had the waiter take it back to the bar. Well, I didn't pay for the drink just dinner, but I left no tip. Tip is get a manager that knows how to manager with customer service skills. I will not patronize this location again. I guess back to Chili's :(
(1)John H.
Service was prompt and attentive. Food arrived hot and exactly as ordered. Drinks were good. My friends and I had a nice relaxing time. Waitess was attentive and pleasant which is not common these days.
(5)Willie W.
Listening to the servers cuss, and waiting 20 minutes for a refill on my beer, was not the worst of it. No a/c, it's 81 outside, and I'm sweating at the bar. Also, as hood as the Walmart across the lot. Outside of drink specials, stay away.
(2)Lisa P.
I wont be back to this one. I will take a 15min. drive over to the one off of Harlem...
(1)Daniel L.
A real joke of a place. Was seated and after 5mins of being ignored I asked a server if I could get service. My server finally showed up and didn't know what my simple drink order was. He tried to make up for being crap by asking me if I was ok every 3mins. The butch bartender is very unfriendly. The manager stands around doing very little. The staff have a table they eat their food from in full view of the whole place. Frequent trips made there by the heavier members of staff and Butch. Judging by the clientele, I know I'm in a rough area but you really need to represent Applebee's better people
(1)S L.
I decided to try Applebee's again after not going for several years. I soon remembered WHY I stopped going in the first place. I chose their curbside service. I arrived exactly when they told me I should and called as instructed to say I was there. The girl on the phone stated she'd "let them know." Ten minutes go by and nothing. I call again and another girl answers. By her response, it was perfectly clear that she'd never received the message. She brings the food right out, but my ice cream is packaged in the same bag as all of my hot food. Really? I get home, give the kids their food and they take one bite and refuse to eat anymore. I try it just to be sure and it is terrible! Cold and gross and I live too close to the restaurant for the food to have gotten cold that quickly. I feel like I just threw $30 down the toilet. This time I'll go away and stay away!
(1)Lulu P.
The host was completely inappropriate asking me and my boyfriend if we was high after we stood there for 5 minutes , acknowledging that we are there but continued on her conversation that I would perceive as an unrelated work topic. After she decided to seat us, she sent another person over to seat us instead of doing it herself which I feel that she should have. Once we was seated, we had to ask for water instead of the waitress offering it which was pretty rude figuring that we sat here for about 10 minutes before we asked. After we ordered and we got our food. My boyfriend's steak was barely cooked. He specifically asked for well done and came out with a very rare bloody steak. After speaking with the manager, she asked if he wants them to cook a new steak or just put the same steak back on the grill. We both felt offended because for starters the steak was cold and it's highly unsanitary for them to do that so we told her to cook him a new steak. Then she said in a condensing manner that it would be easier for them to cook the same steak longer. So while we waiting for his steak, we are overhearing the other servers joking with the manager about how they don't really care for their jobs which is completely out of line as I feel that if I'm spending my money here then at least have some respectable workers. And what tops everything off is they started playing inappropriate music with the song talking about "get on your knees." I almost choked on my drink and looked around and its children here. Overall we didn't have a pleasant experience here at apple bees. We got profiled when we walked in and we got treated like we were not relevant and we eventually sat here heading club music while you got servers dancing to the music. I will follow up with the general manager with this very unprofessional behavior I have experienced tonight.
